To compliment the festival, the label is launching a crowd funding campaign in order to raise additional funds for Kiva.

Among the perks are signed albums and set lists from every band at the festival (including some that aren't), guitar picks, album downloads, etc. As well, fans will have the chance to attend the sound check, hang out with the headliner of their choice, and even punch a record label exec! Full list of available perks below on the crowd funding page:

    Band Search For Indie Opener

Based on a points system, bands interested in performing on the festival will have to share the following link:

Each "share" on FB of the STM Festival Indiegogo crowd funding campaign = 1 point
Each ticket sold to the festival = 5 points
Each contribution made by a band member from a participating band = 10 points
All participating band members make a contribution = 25 points
The participating band that raises the most money through the campaign = 50 points

When making contributions on the crowd funding page, contributors are urged to add a comment letting STM Records know, which participating band they're supporting to help get a spot on the festival lineup.

So what does the band win?

The band selected will receive an opening slot at the "Spread the Metal Festival 2013 - Toronto Edition", full backline, get a chance to meet Suffocation, The Agonist, Augury, Skull Fist, and many more, and have their album reviewed by Spread the Metal Records and other industry reps.

Most high school friends can’t even stand to look at each other once school’s out, but in the case of vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key, they decided to spend even more time together after graduation.

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, they joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they've coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed would be proud of and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With two full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title” and “Sandwich” - the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.

  • GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH sign with Pitch Black Records

Known globally as a stoner metal band, Canadians GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH incorporate three guitar players and a harmonica player giving them a blues edge to their heavy groove. Thin Lizzy meets Black Sabbath, with subtle elements of modern heavy metal here and there, this is a “heavy blues” band that wavers on the edge of metal, stoner, doom and classic rock.

GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH have achieved a lot in their tenure as a band, they have toured extensively for many years and they have acquired a large fan base. Handling the reins of GCG is quite possibly one of Canada’s hardest working musicians; Al the Yeti Bones, who has previously worked with bands such as The Mighty Nimbus, Georgian Skull and Mister Bones. Al had this to say in regards to working with Pitch Black Records:

“We’re really excited to be setting in stone the future roots of GCG with Pitch Black. They’re a badass record label who have an extremely great work ethic that I admire a lot. We’re all huge fans of the European metal scene and I just knew this label was going to be home when we first made contact. We’ve worked really hard on a new album called New Machines of the Night and it was recorded straight to analogue and we can’t wait to unleash it on the world through Pitch Black Records.”

“New Machines of the Night” is the band’s second studio album and it’s due for release worldwide on October 8th, 2013 on CD and digital.

The album’s opening track, “Uneasy Kings”, is now available for streaming and free download at www.pitchblackrecords.com. A video will also be released before the album is released and of course a series of live shows are currently being scheduled.

GYPSY CHIEF GOLIATH are: Al the Yeti Bones – vocals, guitar Dave Ljubanovich – guitar Sean Hamilton – guitar Adam Saitti – drums Sean De Faria – bass Brodie Stevenson – Harmonica

“New Machines of the Night” album track listing:

    Uneasy Kings

    St. Covens Tavern

    Got no Soul

A darker and more mature effort, Psychonaut brings forth Fatality's trademark energy and commitment to drunken mayhem. Tracks like 'Thoughts Collide' and 'Before The Collapse' delve deep into the sodden minds of their creators, bubbling with the strange alchemy of pop culture. Psychonaut is an exploration of the inner landscape of the mind, where addled thoughts and horror-polluted dreams are held up to musical scrutiny. Monstrous, ambitious, and sardonically funny as ever, Fatality are taking their unique sound and boundless energy to the next level.

About: Toronto, Canada’s high-energy, modern thrash monsters Fatality have been cranking out wise-cracking, beer-drenched nightmares together since 2003. Known for their wild, riotous live performances and their peerless work ethic, they have been independently booking and promoting their own shows, creating great merch, touring North America, and making some great tunes along the way. Few bands embody the DIY spirit as fully as Fatality consistently do, and no other bands have as much fun working their asses off.

Fatality’s debut effort, Beers From The Grave, was an irreverent, horror-themed album that eschewed seriousness in favour of hard living and good times. Decibel Magazine quipped that, on Beers From The Grave, “solos fly with reckless abandon, the bass is audible and practically so are the beers being cracked open. These guys must have awesome parties.” Hellbound.ca stated that Fatality are “a bundle of crass, explosive, obnoxiously positive energy spewing beer and shrapnel.” Part homage to classic zombie apocalypse horror and part retro-thrash ruckus, Beers From The Grave was an exciting, riotously messy debut.

After supporting Beers From The Grave with East coast Canadian tours, and being invited to share the stage with the likes of Exodus, Municipal Waste, Holy Grail and Razor, the thrash rockers went back to the studio and emerged with still more new material. Three rough-and-tumble, irresistibly catchy singles — “T.F.E.S.”, “Uppercut” and “Hammerfist” — were bundled together as a free EP. While most bands would have simply released a free record and called it a day, Fatality supported their singles with North American tours, winning hearts, destroying livers and splitting eardrums along the way. After those adventures, Fatality went into a period of hiatus. They emerged from this creative cocoon and re-instated their original drummer, Mason LeVon (brother to guitarist and vocalist Spencer LeVon, who replaced longtime friend and skinsman Andrew Suarez), and new musical vision. In early 2012, the band began writing a brand-new full-length, 'Psychonaut', unquestionably their most ambitious project to date.

    FATALITY is:

    Eytan Gordon - Lead Guitar

    Spencer LeVon - Lead Vocals/Guitar

    Adam Zlotnik - Bass Guitar

    Mason LeVon – Drums

  • SAWTHIS release Youniverse via Bakerteam Records

Since their inception, Modern thrashers Sawthis distinguished themselves for a very strong live attitude, sharing the stage with many international renowned bands such as Lacuna Coil, Entombed, Impaled Nazarene, Shaman and Konkhra to name a few. In 2003 the band signed a deal with Temple Of Noise Records and released their debut album ‘Fusion’ throughout Europe, getting very positive reactions both from the press and the fans. A new, massive live campaign (this time with Destruction, Anathema, Sybreed, Impaled Nazarene, Extrema, Sadist, Necrodeath and Assassin) started in the meantime and also the videoclip for the song ‘Beyond The Bound’ was released.

In 2009 the band signed a new deal with Scarlet Records and entered the studio to record their second full-length album, ‘Egod’. More tours followed, starting with Polish death metal veterans Vader throughout Eastern Europe and a series of successful shows with The Haunted, Primal Fear, Bulldozer, Cattle Decapitation and God Dethroned. A videoclip for the song ‘Act Of Sorrow’ was released in the same period.
Sawthis’ incessant live activity continued until 2012, when they supported Sepultura during their European Kairos Tour.
The band have recently announced a new record deal with Bakerteam Records and a new album, ‘Youniverse’, expected to hit the stores in September 2013. ‘Youniverse’ is a conceptual work focused on the theme of multiple personality disorder and features a very special guest appearance by Rob Cavestany from Death Angel.

    · Third album for one of the hardest working European Thrash Metal bands
    · Produced by Paolo Ojetti (Infernal Poetry) and Sawthis
    · Special guest appearance by Rob Cavestany (Death Angel) on the song ‘The Disturbed’
    · Sawthis have shared the stage with many notable acts, including Sepultura, Vader, The Haunted, Destruction, Lacuna Coil and many more
