  • MIERDASTER announce new members

Chilean thrash punk band MIERDASTER have announced the replacement of  the original members Martin Capdevila and Cristian Lueje to continue touring this second half of the year. The list of new members along with guitarist Claudio Melo's commentaries are below:

"For a while Martin Capdevila (Guitar) and Cristian “Timmy” Lueje (Drums) decided to leave the band; at first we kept working as solid unit because we are a bunch of good friends and we thought to keep it that way until we could find the permanent replacement. Fortunately wasn't that long when René Ortiz (Guitar) and Orlando Ezquerra (Drums) came to the band, they have plenty experience and they are very closed to the band's core and we all felt that when we had the first rehearsal, we all realized that there was a great chemistry in between all of us. We would like to wish to Timmy & Martin the best of luck on all their future endeavors. In the other hand we would like to welcome to our new members".

Mauricio Almazan (Bass & main Vocals)
    Claudio Melo (Guitar/backing Vocals)
    René Ortiz (Guitar)
    Orlando Ezquerra (Drums)

MIERDASTER's 'La Furia' was released in 2012 via Digmetalworld Records and distributed via MVD ENtertainment group in North America.

  • Cranked. Heavy. Melodic. BREACHED Launching New EP 'Left Behind'

Cranked. Heavy. Melodic. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe Toronto’s BREACHED.

Locked and reloaded, the band has finalized their third EP ‘Left Behind’, which will be released on October 22nd with their title track and single hitting radio across Canada plus being available on iTunes.

“We’re incredibly stoked to release the first single and title track from our third official EP, 'Left Behind'. The EP encapsulates the energy and direction we’ve been working towards perfectly. It’s a song that describes the struggles and frustration of moving forward from what you thought you needed." comments vocalist Bobby Noakes.

The EP was recorded in between Canadian and US dates during the spring and summer months of this year while the band toured to promote their second EP ‘Revolution Sessions’, an acoustic version of their debut EP with a bonus stripped down cover of Alice In Chains ‘No Excuses’, which was also joined by a series of in-studio music videos.

Creating an alluring blend of melodious, metal-tinged rock ‘n roll, it didn’t take long for Breached to start winning over fans with their live shows and five-song self-titled EP. The band’s tight harmonies and nail-hitting screams combined with overdriven guitars, intricate tempos and powerful lyrics provide a unique blend that audiences can’t seem to get enough of.

BREACHED will also be holding their launch show for 'Left Behind' during Indie Week Canada in Toronto at The Rivoli on October 19th with local supporrt from Joy Arson and guests.

The title track can be heard at the following links.

“Toronto based Breached are probably on a hiding to nothing by choosing to throw their musical hat into the ring with their own take on a sound that has many, many big established names still kicking around in it somewhere. The saving grace for this, their second EP, is that it is a stripped back affair with a heavy acoustic feel to the five songs that we’re treated to: four originals and a not too shabby cover of the Alice In Chains song ‘No Excuses’.

What is most certainly does is impress. The vocals from Bobby Noakes are right on the money and have plenty power and feeling. The same goes for guitars of Mike Diesel, the bass playing of Ryan Alexander and Drums from Neil Uppal. This is a true team performance and one which is highly recommended. If Breached are struggling to get proper recognition and support for their music, which it definitely deserves, then it’s up to us to get this one noticed. Buy or download, I guarantee you will not be disappointed. 8/ 10” – Powerplay Mag UK

"They rocked the stage and made the crowd scream, wanting more...I was completely blown away by Bobby’s powerful pipes, along with Mike’s back up vocals and melodic/heavy guitar playing. The two of them put together make a beautiful duet. I loved Ryan’s headbanging moves and bad ass bass playing. The band overall has great chemistry on stage, and very good stage presence overall." - TheSceneMagazine.ca

"the dynamic vocals and solid production value of this 5-track stunner are reminiscent of the great unplugged sessions of the 90’s. The talented quartet delivers each track with such flawless ability that I’m sure there is a long-life ahead for this band." - NewCanadianMusic.ca (Revolution Sessions Review)

"I love this!!! It’s a bit mainstream but the energy is delicious. I already know I must see a live show by these guys. “Control” is still my favorite but all these songs rock." - Hip Rock Magazine

" a fine slice of modern rock. Think Chevelle, Faktion, Submersed and those kinds of bands and you are in the right ballpark. The production is very good for this style of music with a nice sound to especially the drums. They sound huge!

First out is Let Go, a nice start that shows us what we are in for here, complete with some screaming as well. Second out is the very Chevelle-esque song Control, also a nice song with a very emotional vocal performance from singer Bobby Noakes. Overall the vocals are great and so are the tunes. I am very intrigued to see what they can do with a full length album.

I think that fans of tough modern rock should give this a listen. 16 minutes of very promising stuff! Check it out today!" - Melodic.net (Self titled EP Review)

"Breached has a dynamic hard rock sound that would appeal to Soundgarden fans. This five-song EP features heavy riffing, powerful vocals, and a rhythm section as solid as the Canadian Shield." - NewCanadianMusic

“They always put on a good show and their music is getting better and better. For a band who has only been around about two years, they have accomplished quite a bit” – Fridae TV (FridaeTV.com)

“Singer Bobby Noakes has a powerful voice with a hard edge and excellent supporting band” – T Mak World (TMAKWorld.com)

“Breached has bottled that delicious era of “hit you in the heart” rock and brought it back to unleash on audiences” – Amber Waves (Open 'Til Midnight)

Blending calculated technicality to create a signature mixture of merciless death metal that has emerged from the prominent Canadian scene. INSURRECTION has been growing, modulating and mutating into a machine of an aural onslaught since their conception in 2003 by founding members Martin Samson and Stef Jomphe.

"We're really proud to finally bring Prototype to the masses. It represents the next step for Insurrection, trying out different ways to present our own sound, exploring different angles and methods! This is the result of several years of hard work along with amazing support from our fans and friends whom without, none of this would've been possible! Enjoy Prototype, you made it happen!"

“Insurrection play a groovy type of death metal that’s equal parts Dying Fetus, Decapitated and Lamb of God.”  - Metal Sucks

Death metal needs fresh blood and let’s hope this album inspires some youngsters to steer away from the crap and come back to serious business.” – Metal Made in Canada

“This 5-piece monstrosity has struck again with precision, aggression and near perfection! INSURRECTION delivers a one of a kind album – solid and crushing from beginning to end.” – The Ottawa Epitaph

Fracture is mint, tight and completely in your face. With well thought out lyrics, great aggressive riffs and a constant energy that hooks you to its sound; it’s a must for any tech death fan. It’s their second effort, and a solid follow up to Prologue, their first album. The lyrics, in both English and French, circles around the themes of society, politics and mental illness. Their vocalist, Stephane Jomphe, does a great job at throwing them at us like bullets and he’s also an incredible live performer. If you get the chance to see them live, jump on it. A good way to get in touch with this piece of art is by listening to its highlights. You better start off with ”Set The World On Fire” a catchy yet brutal (don’t bash me for using this term) song about human rebellion against our capitalist system, well written with a sing along chorus and a heavy sound, in short, a perfect starter. Then there’s ”Dérangé” which can be translated to disturbed or insane. This is surely one of my favorite, a French track about narcotic problems and sanity. Personally I also enjoy ”Fracture”, their title track, and ”History Repeats Itself”…If you’re the metal enthusiast craving heavy and vicious crushing riffs, or the typical technical death metal fan looking for some new stuff to enjoy. Stop searching, you’ve found what you need and believe me you’ll enjoy this album..” – Metal Storm

“One of the things that attracted me to this band was their use of both local languages in their songs. I know it’s easier to write songs in english, and english bands seem to get more popular than french bands, but I feel like a lot of bands don’t even try. Half the songs on Prologue are in french, and half are in english, and it does nothing but improve the record. Hats off to these dudes for writing in their native tongue.” – Bloody Underated

  • Sick Drummer Magazine Premiere DEATH TOLL RISING's New Track 'Scorched Earth Policy'

Death Toll Rising - High Res Photo - Credit Dan Zuk

Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, Edmonton-based Death Toll Rising are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead the band to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few).

Now as they gear up for the release of their sophomore album 'Infection Legacy' on October 22nd, the follow up to their 2010 debut album 'Defecation Suffocation' and 2008 EP 'Spontaneous Decapitation'. The band is premiering their latest track 'Scorched Earth Policy' on Sick Drummer Magazine at the following link below.

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, Death Toll Rising have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable on their upcoming album 'Legacy Infection'.

    Guitarist Drew Copland comments:

"This album has been a long time coming for us, but we firmly believe in taking your time and never releasing something that you feel is inferior in any way.  We are incredibly stoked on how this album turned out, and are confident that fans will find it just as crushing as we do!  It definitely represents the next level for us in terms of song writing and sound and cannot wait to get it into your ears!"

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of HateBornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.

“Montreal’s BornBroken simply go for the throat and never let up. Their debut record The Healing Powers of Hate is a no holds barred punch to the face. Combining the aggression of Lamb of God with the riffs of Pantera makes for a modern day polished metal release. A concept record based around mankind’s ability to overcome adversity and rise up against it, the message is powerful and thought provoking.” – About.com – Heavy Metal - Drago’s Dungeon: June 2013 The Month’s Best Unsigned Heavy Metal Bands

“BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken. Their latest album, The Healing Powers of Hate, is the perfect combination of heavy meets melodic and combines what you’d hear from Lamb of God, Hatebreed and Five Finger Death Punch into one powerful, melodic, fist-pounding metal experience. There’s not one dull moment here and any metal head should at least check this album out. Rating: 8.5/10″ – TheFrontRowReport

“These extreme metallers have done an amazing job of combining death and thrash without treading on melodic death too much…The quality of the recording is also up to standards, including some gravity blasts that’ll have you shouting, “fuck yeah!”…This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.” – 4/5 – Yell Magazine

“‘The Healing Power of Hate’ is a well executed album, tight and well produced, at times with strong hardcore influence. I liked the strong profile that the drums took, the guitar breaks were exciting and all the way through the vocals were first rate. The time taken to create it is very evident in the final result.” 4.5/5 – MetalTalk

“This album is 44 minutes of pure adrenaline infused death-thrash metal at its finest. The Healing Powers Of Hate captures the voice of ‘the broken’ and grants an identity to the thousands of so called misfits that struggle to find a place in our society. Marching to the sounds of brutal bass, slamming percussion, high-speed guitar solos and violently powerful vocals, the broken shall rise.” – LouderThanHell – 5/5

“The Healing Power of Hate is a great example of why Canadian metal is regarded around the world as being of very high quality: Because, quite simply, it is”. – GoetiaMetal

“I was sucked in after the first couple of songs and if I had a label I would sign them in a heartbeat! I understand that this release was self-produced and if that is the case these boys are ten steps ahead of the game and will have labels banging through their doors in no time.” – XplosiveMetal

– MusikUniverse

“Musically, BornBroken are a more solid, and extremely heavy, lot. Simon Savard and Mike Decker’s surging, Dimebag Darrell-inspired grooves hit like haymakers throughout, aided by the sort of dry, ultra-punchy production Terry Date used to achieve such brutal majesty with Pantera, Unearth, Deftones and on White Zombie’s Astro Creep: 2000. The sound here is huge – especially for a self-released effort – clear and quite pummeling.” – Metal-Rules

“It’s not often when you find yourself deep inside of a storyline with an album especially a Metal album, and this is exactly where you find yourself being drowned in throughout The Healing Powers of Hate. Every lyric and every song has a purpose and sheds the tearing storyline that is BornBroken. Throughout every well timed riff through the endless pounding of the skins and through each scream and Growl BornBroken brings you down to their deep hell and shows you their vision through The Healing Powers Of Hate.” – KingstonMusicReviews

“BornBroken deserves broad attention. They’ve already made a very big impression in their native Montreal, both for their live performances as well as their music in general. I honestly don’t know that much about the Montreal metal scene, but I do know that it is getting bigger and more competitive. For these guys to emerge as a local favorite suggests something of their overall quality. Give this one a spin.” SeaofTranquility – 4/5

“BornBroken’s Healing Powers Of Hate is a powerful album that falls in line with the likes of Pantera, Lamb Of God, and Hatebreed with some thrash inspirations from the likes of Testament, and Slayer.” – Emurg.com

“I must say that BornBroken’s amalgamation of melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash works very well. It is well balanced and captures only the good aspects of these three genres, reminding us that, despite all the not-so-interesting bands that roam the three genres, melodeath, metalcore and modern thrash do have a lot to offer…Fans of Pro-Pain, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Machine Head and a wide variety of modern metal bands should definitely check out this potent debut album.” – 4/5 – MetalMusicArchives

“What BornBroken have done here is create an album that ticks pretty much every box on the seriously heavy tick sheet, managing to put together an album which is heavy, melodic, dark, haunting, and yet uplifting at the same time. Representing the pain and angst that went into making it, this album will connect with your soul, and remind you of what heavy is.” – Loud-Stuff.com

“So watch for it. Listen to it. These Montreal Metal Thrash-core compadres are definitely onto something different, and not only with regard to the local scene, but for Metal in general. The BornBroken boys are biting off as much as they can chew by creating a heavy-duty concept album, fusing the powers of all their influences and generating a sound that fluctuates between latter day Sepultura and mid-career Lamb of God.” – BetweenTheHorns.ca

“…At the first look, the album looks like a collector’s item.”
“…The Healing Powers of Hate as a sound comparable to the big names of the industry…I have the strong impression that everything was thought of on this CD. It’s a very well done album from A to Z. The Healing Powers of Hate from BornBroken is nothing less then a must!!” – Musique D’Une Nation

“BornBroken is the future of Québec Metal, with 10 titles to discover, even on stage, since the group demonstrates an uncanny and totally uncommon, energetic stage presence. They have poured their guts into the making of this introductory album, their own monies and a wealth of professionalism, which must be recognized. Bravo for an excellent album that one just doesn’t tire of listening to.” – Québec-Métal

“…le disque est marqué au fer rouge d’une intensité menaçante qui n’épargnera aucun tympan.’’- Bande à part (Radio-Canada)
