  • Montreal's MIRE Offer Free Download

L-R -  Dave Massicotte: Guitar & Vocals | Stephane Boileau: Drums | J.P. LaChapelle: Lead Vocals | Bruno Chouinard: Guitar & Keys | Robbie O'Brien : Bass (Photo Credit: Carl Lessard)

Montreal, QC's progressive rock / metal band MIRE are offering their latest track 'Tyrannicide' for FREE download from their upcoming album 'Inward/Outward' set for release on March 18th to follow up their 2010 self titled EP.

"Implied by the name, 'Tyrannicide' is about exterminating the tyrant that rules you. Be it a cruel lover, an autocratic leader or dictatorial boss; the essence of Rock should liberate you to choose freedom and independence over indoctrination. Break out of your borders and blast past the bounds; burn the limitless fuel of your livelihood and beat your wings to fly. Earn your Name. Go Kill The Tyrant." comments vocalist JP LaChapelle.

Two years in the making, Inward/Outward is a 10 track reflection of ideas flying every which way around the recording studio, ranging from cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan by guitarist Dave Massicotte.

“We created this with our guts and have dared to explore a less common style of metal where the music is less obvious and sometimes requires the individual to have more than one listen before being able to grasp and really appreciate every musical element,” says guitarist Massicotte of the album. “From big chunky guitar to light piano melody, every song will take you on a different journey and set of emotions."

“…newcomers Mire should be considered the heirs to the Tool throne with their latest record, Inward Outward is about as close to Tool as you can get without being Tool. Musically and sonically, Mire are spot-on with the psychedelic metal we’ve all become so accustomed to and you’re guaranteed to zone out listening to the record. If you were to get into the right state of mind before listening to the record, you’d be guaranteed a pleasant trip- or a really adventurous one. Vocally, you’d almost think you’re listening to Maynard James Keenan halfway through the record and you’re gonna lose yourself in it if you immerse yourself in the listening experience. Inward Outward is the perfect appetizer to the upcoming Tool album that may or may not get released in the near future and fans who are desperate for something fresh will feel right at home with Mire’s Inward Outward.” – The Front Row Report

“This is an album of incredibly impressive music that is both haunting and uplifting in equal measure.  The soaring audio landscapes are multi-layered, and the experience of listening to this album is a real emotional journey.  It perfectly combines aggressive chunky guitars, melodic piano, and moments of all out angst and aggression. This is an album of hypnotizing prog-metal that just gets better with each and every listen.  If you’re a fan of progressive rock / metal, this is highly recommended! Score: 9.0 out of 10″ – All About The Rock

“Fans of bands like Tool, A Perfect Circle, Deftones and Porcupine Tree should feel right at home listening to this quintet out of Montreal QC…MIRE’s vocalist, J.P. Lachapelle, delivers a wide range of dynamics and emotion in his singing, from soft whispered parts to full-on intense screams.  Like the bands that influenced them, MIRE has a firm grasp on the use of dynamics in their song writing, making each track more of a composition than just a song.  They skillfully weave a sonic tapestry full of rich textures and vibrant colors, soft piano melodies that stitch effortlessly into some serious headbanging guitar riffs.  Inward/Outward takes us on a journey through a musical landscape filled with compelling rhythmic patterns and thoughtful lyrical content…I think MIRE is a band to keep your eyes and ears on, and I look forward to seeing their territory grow.” – Rock Revolt Magazine

“this progressive rock/heavy metal outfit has more then enough attitude to make a track like “Tyrannicide” sound legit while a more “commercial” number “Open Circle” could easily capture the attention modern rock radio listeners and catapult Mire all the way to the top! Helped out greatly by the powerful voice of lead singer J.P. Lachapelle, who, as far as rock front-man go, has the near-perfect blend of soulful-seduction, sexual charisma and street grit to cross the aisle between male and female listeners (something we’ve seen from Mick Jagger to Axl Rose!).” – Heavy Metal Time Machine

"Their sound is hypnotizing and the lyrics are thought provoking." - Collectively Beautiful

“Euphoria and excitation; the path chosen by these five musicians is exceptional. Very positive and down to earth” – Journal L’Exemplaire

“They certainly leave their mark. They are a diamond in the rough. The perfect place to be. They certainly bring Prog Rock back and then push it forward to another dimension. Lead singer, J.P. has what it takes to rip your heart or leave a tear hanging desperately on the edge of your eyelash. MIRE’s album « Inward:Outward » is a damn good start.” – Curtains Up

  • THE GARDNERZ splits with vocalist

The band have issued the following statement:

We are sad to announce that our singer, Niclas Ankarbranth, has decided to step down. Niclas cited lack of time has his reason to leave and we are sad to see him go but we feel that there is no point on dwelling too much on this issue as Niclas is still a good friend and there is now hard feelings what so ever.

We think Niclas wrote it very well himself in the statement he sent us:

"Yo dudes, hope all is well with you guys. Unfortunately this mail is not all of joy as I have some bad news for you. Last year was a year filled with stress in my life. I did not always do what was best for me and carried too much on my shoulders and that took its toll on me. And this is something I had to learn from so 2014 is a year I have a lot of things going on in my private life as well and this means I have to prioritize differently in my life.

So with sorrow in my heart I have to resign as the vocalist in the band.
I have already talked with Wilhelm about this matter and I tell you guys as I told him. I have a lot of respect for you all, not only as musicians but also as individuals so I want to be straight with you about this as I do not resign because of any musical differences or grudges against anything. I assure you, it's because I have to prioritize differently from this time forward." Niclas Ankarbranth.

So that leaves us with the vocalist spot open. We are looking for someone who:

1- Preferably lives in Sweden or any of the Nordic countries (Denmark/Finland/Norway). Not a deal breaker if you live elsewhere if you are willing to travel or/and can record at home.

2- Have vocalist experience, we are mainly looking for someone to growl. Clean vocals are appreciated but not required.

3- Have the time to write and arrange vocals for our next album that will be recorded this year.

4- Do not take himself too seriously, we are a easy going dudes, so no rock stars or truer than thou BS.

5- Please apply with a short bio and samples of your abilities at wilhelm@thegardnerz.com

The laugh makers recently released their new music video and single 'Obey The Beard', which debut at #14 on US radio metal charts. After a successful crowd funding campaign (thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI), the band is currently working on their follow up to 2011's 'Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs'.

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist  Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, a band they've coined as humorcore. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Almost 100 percent do-it-yourself, Psychostick never strays from its signature sound, a combination of heavy music that Chimaira, Machine Head, and Hatebreed would be proud of, and wit and humor that would make Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic holler with laughter.

With three full-length albums behind them – “We Couldn’t Think of a Title,” “Sandwich,” and their holiday album, “The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride” - the band released their latest record, “Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D,” in 2011, following it up with a tour with Mushroomhead to add to their total count of 21 nationwide tours that have hit 47 states.

After a successful 2013 that saw these touring ninja warriors hit the road for multiple shows on the 'Our Tour Can Beat Up Your Tour', 'Blow Your Fingers Off' summer tour, their late summer dates with American Head Charge plus appearances at summer fests that included Rockapalooza, A2 Fest, Breast Fest Biker Bash, and Dirtfest.  The band finally took a break in last months of the year and held a successful crowd funding campaign (thank you video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSeQHqMCfJI), where they are now currently in studio recording their follow up to 2011's 'Space Vampires vs. Zombie Dinosaurs'.

  • FREE Download! Winnipeg's ENDLESS CHAOS' EP 'Rejected Atrocity'

    L-R – Mike Menza – Rhythm/ Lead Guitar | James Burton – Drums | Jordan Dorge – Vocals | Mike Toews – Lead/ Rhythm Guitar | Jeff Humarang – Bass | (Photo Credit - Brandon Bollen)

Winnipeg death thrash outfit Endless Chaos have unleashed the third and final track 'Condemned To The Pit' from their three song debut EP 'Rejected Atrocity' to complete the full FREE download for its official release today, March 4th

"'Condemned To The Pit', the final track on the EP, really captures where we are going as a band.  It is a real heavy and intricate two part banger with lyrical content about being put to death and being sent to hell.  We hope while the listener is listening he/she is overcome with an overwhelming sense to get in that pit and bring a little chaos of their own." comments vocalist Jordan Dorge.

In addition to the EP being available digitally, limited edition vinyl (200 copies) will be released on Filth Regime Records at a later date in March.

“’Rejected Atrocity’ is a song that hit me like a bull: there is the thrash energy, the aggressiveness of blackened death, and a ton of guitar riffs that make you want to bang your head against the wall…For all fans of Revocation, Skeletonwitch and Havok, you’ll find in this new band something to please you. Crank it up!” – Metal Made In Canada

“Oh how I love blackened thrash metal. Endless Chaos comes from Winnipeg, Manitoba and bring you exactly what their name describes…Check out their debut ep ‘Rejected Atrocity’ and prepare your head for some serious banging.” – Metal Horizons

“Wow, what a gem!!..these dudes are playing heavy as balls. What an unbelievable blend of thrash/death/melodic/black metal going on here; it is so hard to make that all work together continuously, but Endless Chaos seem to have it down to a science. It’s hard also to believe that this is their debut, I’m honestly floored at how tight and brutal this band is.” – Counter Culture Nerd

“…death thrash songs rife with riffs which pummel you senseless and melodic solos. The sound is clear, yet full. So, you get a good idea what these gentlemen are capable of. I wonder how the band will develop from here on. This first acquaintance was a very promising one for me.” – Lords of Metal

““Condemned to the Pit” I’d say is also my favourite song on it. It’s got a cool guitar riff in the middle of it and a great lyric I personally like “No sign of remorse/evil takes its course”…a great addition to any metal fan’s playlists.” – Canadian Beats

“”Rejected Atrocity” is like a missile launched toward the listener.” - Warheim

“Perfect production tumbles head and dense compositions fill all the cracks. It is a very dynamic, tailor-made material. It sounds extreme, stimulates and dazzle with energy. For all the metal-frenzy fans with a touch of technique.” – Technical Death Metal

“…be careful how loud you play it around youngsters and oldsters, as they inevitably succumb to the severity of it all… simply addictive, particularly the guitar work in the title track.  It is over WAY too soon, and practically leaves one begging for more…The only thing I don’t like about this is the fact that there are only three songs.  Can’t wait to hear more!” – Wyrd Ways Rock Review

“Endless  Chaos  are  a  very  great  sounding  mixture  of  black,  death  and  thrash  metal  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  those  musical  genres,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACK  ”Sacrificial  Ritual” – BlackenedDeathMetalZine
