Both of these acts have been major influences on us over the last 10 years. We will be alongside Vancity's stay tech masters, Archspire getting everyone primed to be wiped out by the headliners!"

About: Featuring a combination of death and thrash metal, the Edmonton-based band are known to devastate their audiences with their high octane performances that has lead them to share the stage over the years with high profile names such as Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, The Haunted, and Aborted (to name a few).

Originally formed in 2003 in Stony Plain, AB, Canada, Death Toll Rising have been grinding the Western Canadian metal scene steadily, gaining huge momentum over the last 3 years. New addition Tylor Dory on guitars has introduced a technical and progressive element to the band they have not had in the past. Add in the intense and relentless drumming provided by Bryan Newbury (recently recruited by Canadian prog/death powerhouse INTO ETERNITY), as well as the well-rounded rhythm provided by Drew Copland on guitar and Mike Puff on bass, and you get a monster that is only now being unleashed upon the masses with vocalist Jesse Berube topping things off with a combination of brutal death growls and Tomas Lindberg-esqe high shrieks, which will be plenty noticeable on their new album 'Infection Legacy'.

Full album stream of 'Infection Legacy' can be listened on Beatroute Magazine here or Soundcloud here along with being purchased on Bandcamp here.

“Some very good things are happening in Western Canadian metal these days, and Edmonton’s Death Toll Rising have come through with a very impressive second album. While rooted in death metal, they occasionally dip into thrash groove and progressive metal technicality, which you don’t see very often, and which gives the music a good, dynamic quality. Savage one minute, intricate the next, the quality on this record is well above your average self-released album, a true diamond in the rough. Don’t miss out on it.” DeciBlog / Decibel Magazine

“A Canadian powerhouse that have been perfecting their destructive arts for a decade now. ‘Infection Legacy’ demonstrates all the poise and proficiency you’d expect from such an experienced outfit, with each song being a perfectly constructed weapon of mass destruction. Death and thrash metal have welded into nine fearsome tracks, peppered with some superb guitar-work and devastating drumming throughout. ‘Scorched Earth Policy’ sums up all the band’s attributes nicely, but there are no weaknesses to be found anywhere. Cannibal Corpse and Slayer blended with individual vision and delivered with ruthless precision.’ – Zero Tolerance Magazine

“The production is expectedly clean and punishing, with battering double kick running like a stampede through the album, which kicks off with the title track. The guitar sound is a razor-sharp, jagged to the point of causing aural lacerations, and my thoughts shifted quite quickly to the likes of US act Revocation, with a focus on bouncing riffs and thundering melodies. ‘Scorched Earth Policy’ is a striking riff fest, with hook after hook inundating the listener like a boulder avalanche, making this a very guitar friendly album for those preferring multiple riffs, though it is not a tech death metal release by any means. ‘Crack Open A Cold One’ has scorching lead that fits so snugly into the song dynamics, you hardly notice, as this song, and the album as a whole, flows so smoothly, despite being heavier than the gravity pull of black hole.” – Powerplay Magazine

“I love this album, it is forty-five minutes of full tilt death/thrash excitement.” 5/5 – Metal Talk

“Infection Legacy sticks out from the pack for its meticulous riffing, well crafted hooks, and elements of thrash and progressive metal.” – Edmonton Sun

“Charging riffs, intense growling vocals, chaotic soloing and hard-hitting blast beats. Seems it’s all here. And the legends that came before them would be proud. Sounds like: Devin Townsend hitting up a jam with the late, great Chuck Schuldiner. ” – Scott Jones – Alan Cross : Professional Music Geek: A Journal of Musical Things

“Death Toll Rising is the lone death metal album making the cut, displaying a strong grasp of what the brutal brothers enjoy without the widdly fluff or boring bork-downs.” – Invisible Oranges

“Death Toll Rising is a two-headed monster that won’t even let you take a breath” – Against Magazine

“Infection Legacy is an unbelievable slab of bone-breaking, thrashing death metal that takes no prisoners and instantly pounds the listener into submission. The title track begins spreading the communicable disease with a fast-paced, crushing riff and eerie unnatural guttural growls, and from there the contagion grows like wildfire infecting your ears and eventually your psyche.

From a musical standpoint Infection Legacy is about as technical as it is heavy, with laser precision fret board wizardry that slices through the chaos like a hot knife through butter and drums that carry the rhythms along at a neck-snapping pace. It does not stop there though because the shock value continues on in the blood-soaked, carnage-filled lyrics that would easily fit into a Cannibal Corpse, Autopsy, or Exhumed record – by the end of it all the images that were conjured up made me feel as if I needed a shower to wash away all the filth!” – PureGrainAudio.com

“Death Toll Rising have presented us with an insane album and I just can’t stop listening to it! Every song on that record is good. Influences range from Suffocation and Necrophagist to things like Arsis and even some extreme thrash in there…I’d give this album a very high 9/10 for amazing song writing, great musical talents, spot on production and a very solid overall theme. The album sounds like a complete piece, well thought out and consistent. If these guys are ever nearby, I’ll be in the front row. No questions asked.” – Metal Made In Canada

“For fans of aggressive death and thrash metal this album gives plenty to enjoy. Most of the songs just pound away, the drums leading the charge. Instead of a straight ahead death metal album, however, this band like to mix things up with interspersed lead dual guitar lines, occasional tempo changes, and hints of melody. On the whole it makes for good listening. I recommend checking out tracks like “Slaughter to Survive” and “Revelation Despair.”…This is a strong album from a band that continues to grow and mature with each new release.” – Sea of Tranquility

“If you’re a fan of bands like Carcass, Death, Strapping Young Lad, At The Gates, etc, you definitely want to check this one out. ” – Kosher Metal

Infection Legacy is a fine example of a thrashing death metal album that delivers in all departments.” – Metal Forces Magazine

Infection Legacy starts off with a bang and holds that energy up until the albums end. From the get go you’ll notice how clean and well rounded the production is. Each and every instrument is blended perfectly and works well to build a complete sound.” – Emurg

“Filled with deep and heavy riffs, ferocious energetic drum beats and intense angry Growls” – Kingston Music Reviews

“DTR sound fresh and modern. Ripping solos and scorching runs balanced by burliness and grit. It’s a formula bound to ensnare plenty of death metal fans.” – Kingdom of Noise

“I want to start off by saying that the drums on this album are top notch!! Right when the music started on the Title track “Infection Legacy” I was blown away by the intensity and fluidity of the drumming that is displayed. I literally have nothing bad or critical to say about the drums. Everything that a death metal band can ask for is already there! As far as the guitar work goes…Holy crap. Not only is it heavy as hell but the guitarists convey different moods in each of the song through variations in their riffage.” – Extreme Metal TV

Infection legacy is going to be a great addition to many a metal heads death or thrash collections and has enough proggy guitar in it to also appeal to prog fans who don;t mind their music to be a bit thrashy with it. I’ve listened to the album four times now and every time I just find myself sitting there going ‘this is brilliant’ and headbanging away.” – Wyrd Ways Rock Show Review

“These guys have hit things “just right” for the death metal majority. “Infection Legacy” has songs redolent of classic American death metal like Malevolent Creation and Immolation, with not a wimpy, wasted moment to be found…Of all Canadian independent metal efforts I’ve heard recently, “Infection Legacy” is the most fully realized and pleasingly coherent. An album to be enjoyed by all death metal fans and perhaps even more…” – Wormwood Chronicles

“This third album from Canada’s DTR is as good a slice of death metal mayhem as you are going to hear this year. Packed solid with soaring riffs, which succeed in holding the right mix of melody within their overall context of bombastic beatdowns and crushing themes, the band also succeed in introducing subtle black metal motifs which intertwine into their ambitious sound with an effective resonance. Vocalist Jesse Berube is especially effective in the subtle intensity of his brutality, while drummer Bryan Newbury also deserves mention for his stunningly precise performance.” – Planet Mosh

“As I listened to the title track from Death Toll Rising’s newest album,Infection Legacy, something clicked. As the guitar wailed into the solo, there was a remarkable melodic sensibility to it. The care given to each note and the smoothness in which they were played gave the section a tender, singable quality, contrasting brilliantly with the pummeling viciousness of the rest of the song. This quickly set me to reminiscing about the similar considerations to melody and precision riffing that were so common in later albums written by Chuck Schuldiner and Death. This sophomore release finds the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada-based boys in top form, bringing with them an almost unending wave of aggression to sate the palettes of death metal enthusiasts.” – Target Audience Magazine

“Combining burly rhythms with charging riffs, Death Toll Rising deliver each track with a sense of urgency and energetic ferocity.” - Mouth For War (Review of 2010′s Defecation Suffocation)

“awe inspiring power that is hard to ignore…Death Toll Rising is a band on the verge of having the world seeing them.” - Metal Bite (Review of 2010′s Defecation Suffocation)

“Plying a form of death metal that mixes equal parts Floridian complexity (Cannibal Corpse maybe?) and Belgian chunk,” - Teeth of The Divine (Review of 2010′s Defecation Suffocation)

“packed with intense straight forward Death Metal that cover the typical topics of death, baby murder, and suffocation by feces!” - Apochs (Review of 2010′s Defecation Suffocation)

“Longest reigning and best death metal band in Alberta” - Terese Fleming, Noctis Festival organizer & Scarab Productions

  • KXM to release debut album on RAT PAK RECORDS

A new musical force to be reckoned with is about to turn the rock world upside down with the release of their self-titled debut, KXM. KXM is comprised of dUg Pinnick of King's X on vocals/bass, George Lynch of Lynch Mob/Dokken on guitars and Korn's drum maestro, Ray Luzier, rounds out the powerhouse trio. The band takes its name from the combination of the member's other projects: K from Korn, X from King's X and M from Lynch Mob.

The self-titled debut of KXM is something truly unique and special. The songs are powerful, precise, and transcend beyond the boundaries of the imagination. In today's overpopulated music arena, true gems become harder and harder to find, but KXM's unified vision rises above the normal and creates its own space. From the opening drum riff of "Stars" to the final chord on "Human Friction," KXM is an album that is sure to resonate with fans from the band's original projects, while garnering new ones as well. Songs like "Gun Fight," "Faith Is A Room" and the first single "Rescue Me" are sure to be instant favorites among fans. The band shows their softer side on the ballad "Never Stop" along with their dark side on the tale of domestic violence, "Sleep."

KXM formed in early 2013 when dUg, George and Ray spoke about trying to jam together. At the time it wasn't clear what would come from those jams. The only thing that was clear was that these 3 musicians, at the top of their game, wanted to play together. The self-titled debut, KXM, was born from those jam sessions and is now an important piece in each band member's musical legacy. In a world that constantly searches for new and unique music, KXM delivers all the power and punch that one would expect from these high level players! Official release date is set for March 11, 2014

Israeli heavy metallers SWITCHBLADE signs worldwide management deal with Germany’s ROCK’N’GROWL MANAGEMENT. SWITCHBLADE aims to attain the same sparkles and enthusiasm that made the 80s Metal scene so great in a sense that it will sink in deep in today’s perception of Metal music.

Venedict Pavlovic – Rhythm, Lead Guitars

ICED EARTH performing for the first time in Israel. SWITCHBLADE, along with their local peers, Prowlers, will support the American Heavy/Power Metal giants.

Since 2005 the Israeli Switchblade has been trying to find the right Metal image that will be sufficient for its members. Six years later, along with shifting Metal subgenres, several unofficial releases, a few gigs with various of groups within the Israeli Metal scene, plenty of lineup changes, and a few bruises, Switchblade found its right purpose and direction. With a talented solid lineup that shared the same devotion to the classic years of Metal, the Switchblade group began playing their material with strong accordance to their true worship, 80s Heavy Metal. 2011 saw the release of the first official digital single, “Endless War/Euphoria“, announcing a newfound landmark for the band. Less than a year later, Switchblade issued its second digital single, “Metalista“, which was highly perceived by the local and foreign Metal scenes. After finalizing its performance in the finals of the local 2012’s “Wacken Metal Battle“, Switchblade began working on its debut album “Heavy Weapons“.

Switchblade’s emergence wasn’t with the purpose of reinventing the vintage steel, it came to relive it and keep the old fires burning. Among a few blinks towards progression, Switchblade aims to attain the same sparkles and enthusiasm that made the 80s Metal scene so great in a sense that it will sink in deep in today’s perception of Metal music. “Heavy Weapons” consisting of nine tracks, a few from the band’s past along with fresh material, might become one of the pillars of the old burning flame of Heavy Metal.

  • Montreal's MIRE Announce Release of Inward/Outward

L-R -  Dave Massicotte: Guitar & Vocals | Stephane Boileau: Drums | J.P. LaChapelle: Lead Vocals | Bruno Chouinard: Guitar & Keys | Robbie O'Brien : Bass (Photo Credit: Carl Lessard)

Rising out of Montreal, QC's vibrant music scene, progressive rock / metal band MIRE are proud to announce the official release of their debut album Inward/Outward on March 18th to follow up their 2010 self titled EP.

Two years in the making, Inward/Outward is a 10 track reflection of ideas flying every which way around the recording studio, ranging from cognitive science to a military stint in Afghanistan by guitarist Dave Massicotte.

“We created this with our guts and have dared to explore a less common style of metal where the music is less obvious and sometimes requires the individual to have more than one listen before being able to grasp and really appreciate every musical element,” says guitarist Massicotte of the album. “From big chunky guitar to light piano melody, every song will take you on a different journey and set of emotions."

The band has released the first music video 'Limitless Pt. 2' in support of the album, which can be viewed at the following link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQnqLxFv5oM

FREE Download - Bandcamp stream: https://mire.bandcamp.com/track/limitless-pt-2

"Limitless Pt. 2 is about waking up from your daily grind to acknowledge the mysticism of your existence. The potential of what mankind is capable of, starts in the hands of its individual subjects - it starts with you. As the title implies, Limitless is an expression of how far you should push your ambitions in all directions to fulfill your own ideal based on your individual experience.' says vocalist JP LaChapelle. "MIRE celebrates diversity, because slaving to fit the mold serves another. Enough of us have been sacrificed for a semblance of freedom, and to perfect it takes mad balls. Courage to confront fear every single morning, day and night, live on the edge of your seat at all times and lean forward - goad life to 'come at you bro'. Developing your conscience allows you to stretch out the fiber of the NOW and analyse it. Establish objectives; try 10 times in different ways until you succeed. OWN YOUR DESTINY. That's the passion we felt when we created Limitless together."

“Euphoria and excitation; the path chosen by these five musicians is exceptional. Very positive and down to earth” – Journal L’Exemplaire

“They certainly leave their mark. They are a diamond in the rough. The perfect place to be. They certainly bring Prog Rock back and then push it forward to another dimension. Lead singer, J.P. has what it takes to rip your heart or leave a tear hanging desperately on the edge of your eyelash. MIRE’s album « Inward:Outward » is a damn good start.” – Curtains Up
