They solicited the expert guidance of Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69, Unisonic, Khymera), also the producer of Angra, Eden’s Curse, Godiva, Krokus, and countless more, including KIRK‘s debut album “The Final Dance“, over a decade ago. The resulting album, entitled “Masquerade” will be released worldwide on the legendary heavy metal label Mausoleum Records.

Toronto, ON based metal band WHERE GIANTS ONCE STOOD have posted a new guitar playthrough video for the title track from their debut EP 'The Changing', “seven-track rip-and-kerrang assault” that debut at no.2 on the iTunes metal charts, which is still winning critical praise with its ability to fuse scorching guitar work, “assaultive underbeats” plus “drill-sergeant vocals” with earworm choruses and modern electronic breaks.

In additional news, the band is proud to announce their endorsement with Ernie Ball, which they can be seen using in the video.

"Ernie Ball is a great company, we're excited to be endorsed and can't wait to start working with them." comments lead guitarist, Jordan Turnbull.

Where Giants Once Stood – The Changing (2013)

    Release Date: July 30, 2013

    Distribution: Online = Tunecore,  iTunes

RIYL =  Avenged Sevenfold, The Human Abstract, August Burns Red, Trivium, Killswitch Engage, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, Miss May I

“This modern approach will certainly hold a lot of appeal to younger Metal fans, there are some good vocals from Reshaun Page, a mix of gutturals, screams and cleans and the balance between the two is about right, not too many cleans, which were a touch emotive for my personal tastes but nonetheless very well executed, the guy has a great voice and a phenomenal range. What did really appeal to me, personally, were the technical elements to the guitars from Jordan Turnbull, altogether the combination making a good debut release. ” – Metal Talk

“Ringing guitars flanked by an assaultive underbeat and drill sergeant vocals combine to create a winning album by a band not afraid of hard work.” – New Canadian Music

“Where Giants Once Stood is a veritable Canadian metal force. A group who have a fairly good handle on mixing cleans and growls this band is simply fun to listen too. Their crazed riffs help to inspire circle pit starting fury in my heart and make me want to headbang until I throw my back out. Meanwhile the crushing playing on songs like Heavens Tremble shows a touch of the classic hardcore attitude promising a face ripping good time. Their mix of furious riffs and super technical solos is not to be missed.” – Two Guys Metal Reviews

REMINDER - Submissions Now Open! Wacken Metal Battle Canada Returns! ‘One Band To Rule Them All’

Press Release originally issued on December 5, 2013:

Last year's first ever Wacken Metal Battle Canada was witnessed to Toronto, ON's epic power/death metal band Crimson Shadows not only winning the 2013 Canadian final but conquering the international final in Wacken, Germany where they performed in front of thousands unknown to their behemoth sound of metal. (Video of that champion set can be viewed here.)

With that great success and triumph for Canadian metal, Wacken Metal Battle Canada will be expanding across the country in 2014.

"We're very pleased to announce that Metal Battle has been expanded to include Western Canada. Battles will happen in Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver and we expect some quality submissions from those major cities to join Toronto and Montreal. Given the interest we received last year from the West, this expansion was inevitable. We've been working hard to overcome the geographical challenges - the result will be a bigger and better competition." comments Wacken Metal Battle Canada organizer JJ Tartaglia.

One Canadian band will rule them all and represent the nation with highest honour at this year's 2014 international battle at the world’s most prestigious metal festival Wacken Open Air in Wacken, Germany where they will join the list of Canadian heavyweights such as Voivod, Exciter, Razor, Annihilator, Anvil, Kataklysm, Cryptopsy, 3 Inches of Bloods, Despised Icon and Danko Jones who have performed at the festival in years past.

Canadian battle rounds will be judged by a panel of local music industry representatives during the months of March, April and May with the national final being held on June 7, 2014 in Toronto, ON with the following band representation.

    1 finalist from Vancouver, BC
1 finalist from Alberta (Calgary & Edmonton will face off)
    2 finalists from Toronto, ON
    1 finalist from Montreal, QC

Submissions are now open as of December 5, 2013 and will be closed on January 31, 2014 with bands selected to be announced at a later date in February.
