The Ragdoll Diaries is undoubtedly Doll’s best works to date, working alongside producer Jason Jaknunas for an album that has it all, creative musicianship, honest lyrics, and a truth that’s been missing in music for some time. Supported by the fearlessly rocking threesome of Pete Kasper, Nick ‘Chopz’ Richer and newcomer to the Doll family Alex Vance, this is one band that you don’t want to miss getting in on the party early and staying for days while you zone out the beautifully crafted yet fiercely hard hitting tunes.

Formed in 2005, Doll provides the missing link between punk and rock, a sound that’s been lacking in mainstream music for quite some time. With fresh and honest songs cutting through like a hot knife through butter, the rockers snap the listener out of their daze and onboard their trip of truth and beautifully crafted angst through sound and vision. Inspired by the great bands such as Sonic Youth, Hole and L7, Paramore, Flyleaf and Die Mannequin, Doll is on its way to becoming a creative and honest musical force to be reckoned with.

2012 saw great advances for the band, completing several successful Eastern Canadian tours, and breaking into the US market on their first ever tour through America, their live show is evolving and becoming one of the highlights of Canadian music. With strong performances at year’s past festivals such as the Ottawa Bluesfest, IndieWeek Canada, NXNE, and D-Tox Rockfest, a strong review in many major publications such as Outburn and Revolver Magazines, along with local support from the Ottawa Xpress being nominated over years in the Best Rock album and Band categories, sharing the stage with Protest The Hero, Lacuna Coil, Three Days Grace and tons more, to selling out over 1,000 copies of both albums and 500 vinyls of the Ragdoll Diaries, video plays across MuchMusic and MusiquePlus, and ever increasing radio plays, the band has embraced DIY to its highest degree continually improving its social media reach and brand awareness. You can expect big things from Doll in the near future! 2013 will prove to be a game changer not only for the band, but the Canadian musical landscape, with plans to return to the US and to branch out even further into Canadian markets.

“Doll has what it takes to popularize the sounds of the 90s all over again“ - The Ottawa Sun

“Gritty, Angst-Riden music that doesn’t F#@K around“ - Now Magazine

“This is serious music, dark, intense, and magnetic“ - Exclaim Magazine

“Punk'N'Roll 8/10 Doll is a raucous female fronted quartet based out of Ottawa, Canada that slings 11 hard driving tracks full of punk, metal, grunge, and rock. Frontwoman Christina Kasper could simply steal the show with her aggressive demeanor and her gritty/streetwise approach to singing, but that wouldn't be fair to the band that surrounds her. While Kasper does add her guitar playing to the mix, Peter Kasper shreds each track with a vibrant blend of metal, punk and good ol' rock'n'roll. The intricate guitarwork ranges from full-on-metallic onslaughts to swirling walls of atmospheric rage and contempt. Nick Richer thunders in the background on the drum kit, helping each track rumble and rock by hammering away and pummeling the tracks into an abrasive viscosity. Add to that the fact that Doll absolutely nails a cover of Billy Idol's White Wedding and you have the makings for a viable leader in the hard punk and metal underground. ” - Outburn Magazine

“Few words from the music encyclopedia bring waves of nostalgia back stronger than the mere mention of "grunge." Itself a semi-corrupt term for a scene nobody really understood at the time, grunge was more of a label for an era of rock philosophy – one in reaction to 80s glam and cock-rock – than it was a description of a particular sound. Ottawa band Doll clearly understand this principle, for though they proudly slap the label of grunge on their music, it is more of a badge of affiliation with the ideals of the time than the actual grunge scene. In The Ragdoll Diaries, 12 tracks of heavy rock riffs build on the wave after wave of ascending guitar sections that buoy the impressive range of lead singer Christina Kasper. ”- Ottawa Xpress

“The debut from Ottawa's Doll caught me instantly like a fish on a hook. This is serious music. Dark, intense and magnetic, this is the kind of gritty '90s grunge that doesn't fuck around. Fronted by the vocally vicious Christina Kasper, Doll recall an angry and confused era of music devoid of pop but not catchiness. Kasper howls in the vein of Courtney Love and Brodi Dalle, and while the lyrics are simple and not exactly fresh, they are impacting. Songs like "Perfect" deal with trying to live up to society's standards, while "Sally Lost Her Shoelaces" and "Daddy's Little Girl" deal with hurt, confusion and heroin against a backdrop of chunky guitars, assaulting drums and badass attitude. Julie-Anne Madore's backing vocals add a whispered, haunting feel to this record. If the dirty rock'n'roll alone doesn't reel you in, nothing will. (Independent)”- Exclaim Magazine

“It's rare nowadays that I get a record that gives me that good old screeching metal jolt that everyone (in my estimation anyway) needs from time-to-time. I certainly get that from The Ragdoll Diaries, the sophomore album from Ottawa quartet Doll. The band melt are a relentlessly hard-driving metal machine, with razor-sharp punk arms and hefty grunge legs welded onto it. The breakneck pace of "If I Could" and the take-no-shit first single "FMO" are powered by the vocals of Christina Kasper, who's defiant and forceful style is equal parts Kat Bjelland and Kittie. If you don't dig Doll's absolutely vicious rendition of Billy Idol's "White Wedding", then you just don't like hard music. This is not music for the tender-eared. - TO Snob

“Despite its progressive nature, punk rock is largely dominated by men; however, Ottawa’s Doll demonstrates clearly that women can hold their own as the face of a punk band. Ragdoll Diaries is the band’s second album. With dirty bar rock forming the backbone of their sound, vocalist Christina Kasper’s singing is a throwback to ’90s grunge acts such as Hole or L7. The band’s rhythm section does a great job supporting Kasper’s vocals, which are certainly the centerpiece of the band’s music. After releasing Inside the Dollhouse in 2009, Doll spent a few years touring much of Canada alongside bands such as SNFU, Danko Jones, The Creepshow, and others. It appears as though rubbing shoulders with some of the genre’s finest has rubbed off on the band, who demonstrate a more mature and confident style with their latest release than in previous work. If Doll is coming through your neck of the woods, you’d be remiss not to check them out. - Canadian Musician Magazine

  • Until Dawn Releasing New Album 'Horizon'; Streaming New Song 'This Fallen Fortress'

(L-R) – Steve White – Guitar, Darren Ehler – Bass, Adam Macleod – Vocals, Luke Worrell – Drums, Deke Worrell – Guitar (Photo Credit = Barrett Klesko – FadeBlack Studios United)

Until Dawn's intense energy, intoxicating guitar riffs along with their lively stage shows has shown that their location in the remote northern depths of Fort McMurray, Alberta will not slow them down as they unleash their latest album 'Horizon' on Tuesday, August 6th to follow up their 2011 self titled breakthrough.

    Vocalist Adam Macleod comments:

"We started working on Horizon two years ago, and the concept came together fast. As a touring band, we are always staring into the horizon geared towards the next show. That’s what we are trying to convey with our next record. We spent an immense amount of time writing and doing pre-production to ensure we lived up to our own expectations and our fans. We believe this is the best representation of what Until Dawn is right now. We are extremely proud and excited to get this record to our fans, to make new ones and hit the road to play the new songs live.

Our single 'This Fallen Fortress' started as a song about being from Fort McMurray and the struggles we face as a band secluded so far north. But quickly turn into being about gaining strength through out any obstacle you are faced with. We as a band believe you can find strength and perseverance in any situation, and turn it into a positive. Let this dawn awaken."

Mixing the sound of modern metal and classic rock, brothers Luke and Deke Worrell, with Adam MacLeod and Steve White have created a thirteen track exploder that appeals to both young and old alike.

The band is now streaming their first single 'This Fallen Fortress' at the following links:

About: Until Dawn released their self titled debut in 2011 to great success having their hit single “Table and The Plastic” get steady rotation on local Rock 97.9FM. With that strong support the band was able to successfully tour Western Canada, which included festival performances and sharing the stage with such as acts as rock legends KISS, Korn, Volbeat, Billy Talent, A Day To Remember, Hell Yeah, All Else Fails, Fozzy, Ill Scarlett, 3 Inches of Blood and Striker where they wowed audiences with their own brand of modern metal.

Releasing their sophomore album in 2013, Until Dawn is building on their previous success and setting new plans to bring their music to larger audiences around the world. All in all, Until Dawn is melodic metal at its finest, and this is just the beginning.

  • HATE HANDLES: studio videos released

    - Death/thrash metallers HATE HANDLES released videos of their guitars and vocals recordings for "Die In Hands of Believers", the band's debut album, which is being recorded in Estúdio Nitro, with production by the band itself and Roger Fingle (Blood Tears, Seduced by Suicide). Check out some of the videos below:

About the recordings the guitarist Maicon Dorigatti comments: "When we started the recording process we were still finishing some of the songs, mainly the last three that we recorded. That definitely slowed down the release but it gave us more time to work on each idea and now we can say we reached our goal. All 9 songs clearly are part of the same work, with all the rhythmic and melodic elements of our music, but with an unique approach in each of them. The recording process is going great and right now we have 90% of the album recorded, with just a few vocals and solos left."

Other video recordings from studio are being posted in the band's YouTube page at http://www.youtube.com/hatehandlesthrash

  • Canadian Power Thrashers Sanktuary Premiere New Song 'Heat Lightning' From Upcoming Album 'Something Fierce'

    Sanktuary_Group

L-R: Anders Grasholm – Drums | Cole Hume – Bass | Alan Binger – Vocals, Guitar | Glen Emond – Guitar

Canadian power thrashers Sanktuary are premiering their second single 'Heat Lightning' off their upcoming debut album 'Something Fierce' on PureGrainAudio.com at the following location here.

The eight track power thrash thrill ride will be released on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 via Canadian metal label Spread The Metal Records and is available for pre-order here

Spawning from high school friendship and growing into something much more epic, Sanktuary kicked things off with two back-to-back EPs – 2009′s self-titled release and 2010′s Black Magic Brew – and soon followed that up with a massive move from Whitehorse, Yukon to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

After touring the country following their epic relocation and being faced with a major blow in Toronto that saw their van and nearly all their gear get stolen, Sanktuary turned things around with a third EP in 2011, Tundrastruck (a 3 way split with Black Moor and Metallian), followed by them signing to Spread the Metal Records, which sent them all the way back to Whitehorse to record 'Something Fierce'.

“recent transplants from the Yukon to Nova Scotia and I’m pretty sure they didn’t do much but play music before heading south. Thrash with a thick coating of traditional metal, ‘Raise The Flag’ is a crowd pleaser and having heard them play it live, I know this to be true. I can’t wait for these guys to put out a full length!” – Earshot! (Review of Tundrastruck split EP)

“Raise The Flag is faithful track number two. Now without wanting to compare, I hear a little of early Metallica even a little Pound for Pound Anvil in this track. Without a doubt this is a beer drinking metal anthem. It makes me feel like slamming my text book against my vandalized desk and telling Ms.Sulley to “Fuck off, art history blows!” – Hard And Heavy Zine (Review of Tundrastruck split EP)

“I was excited to hear Sanktuary as they are a thrash metal band from the Yukon, and hell who ever hears of metal bands from the North. So that in itself right there is a big point of interest to get you excited…I do know that the opening track “Speed Demon” totally sticks in my head, and yes it sounds exactly like you expect it to sound. On their myspace page they have a thing that says just fucking metal and I think that really sums up everything you need to know about Sanktuary. If you like thrash then don’t hesitate listen to this as soon as you possibly can.” – Left Hip Mag (Review of Sanktuary EP 2009)

“The penultimate band last night was another Halifax speed metal band, that being Black Moor’s good friends Sanktuary, and though their sounds were similar in genre, Sanktuary stood out on their own as well! Compared to Black Moor, Sanktuary’s sound wasn’t as varied, taking more cues from speed metal in general, so it was more straightforward, but still very relentless and entertaining! Alan Binger’s vocals were really nice, ranging from a suitable heavy metal tone to some really melodic patches and even a couple falsetto notes here and there! He and Cole Hume rocked our faces off with their crushing metal sounds, and Anders Grasholm fit perfectly with his proficient drum skills! Though their originals were really entertaining and full of great old school metal, fans of Metallica were pleased to hear them cover “The Four Horsemen” and “Motorbreath” at the end of their set, which was really cool! Though I was getting worn out by this point, I recognized the talent of Sanktuary, and hopefully they come back to the Soo really soon!” – The Sault Metal Scene (Concert Review)

“Sanktuary delivers a retro speed/thrash style…”Raise the Flag” is a catchy and upbeat speed metal track” – Metal Music Archives (Review of Tundrastruck split EP)

“Originally from Whitehorse you have to wonder if that adds to the speed in which they play. Being cold all the time in their youth must have made them play quickly to stay warm. To be serious this is a great fast moving song (Raise The Flag) that is true thrash in every sense of the word.” – WeLoveMetal.com (Review from Tundrastruck spilt EP)

“Raise the Flag converted me with it’s rhythmically interesting grooves–I like that they don’t do everything cliche, and I detect some stonerrock influence here, especially in the outro. Gives your neck a break and shifts gears from headbanging to headbobbing, something i’m all for. Also a wicked guitar solo, and shouted gang vocals, right on boys! The performance is technically great,” – Noisography (Review from Tundrastruck split EP)

This is raw Thrash-influenced Metal as it should be. The demo has a real live feel about it. The guitar chugs away, the drums are battered & the singer grunts far more than he shrieks. BMB is a beer driven & enthusiastic romp in four songs. It does everything it says on the tin.” – Pulp Metal Mag (Review of Black Magic Brew EP 2010)
