    About:

A five piece group based out of Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, following in the footsteps of bands such as: Behemoth, Dissection, and Immortal, XUL have left the beaten path and set out to forge their own brand of Blackened Death Metal.

An energetic and interactive live performance – with crushing rhythms seamlessly coalescing into atmospheric passages, accompanied by punishing percussion waves and subtle vocal harmonies – expands upon the previously established essence of the sub-genre. With songs reminiscent of war-torn landscapes, destructive human nature and evil intent, XUL has captivated audiences and garnered positive reviews, and on June 16, 2012, released their first full length album, entitled “Malignance”.

Driven by determination and a diverse accumulation of musical comprehension, XUL has toured Western Canada, as well as proven themselves worthy to share the stage with bands such as: Obscura, Exhumed, Vreid, Kampfar, Woods of Ypres, Macabre, Withered, Cephalic Carnage, Archspire and 3 Inches of Blood. With a spring 2013 tour looming, XUL is determined to build on an impressive local following by infecting Western Canada with hopes of Canada in its entirety in the near future. XUL’s focus for winter 2012 is to meticulously craft new material for another release in 2013.

#10 of Top 20 Best Albums of 2012 for MetalMadeInCanda.ca

"Xul continue to offer a barrage after barrage of obliterating death metal...when the sheer fire power and dexterous performances that Xul serve up are so satisfying. Particularly when you consider that is the band's debut album. Malignance is undeniably impressive." - Powerplay Mag UK

"Malignance, the first record from unsigned Canadian blackened death act Xul, is one of the most impressive debut’s I’ve heard in a very long time. Rarely are the similar artists mentioned in press kits an entirely accurate estimation of the soundscapes to be found within an album proper, but I find the examples of Behemoth and Dissection are quite fitting in this case, as the band excels at weaving the brutality of the former with the epic melodious propensity of the latter, not to mention the grandiosity inherent to both, into a rich and exciting tapestry of extremity." - Metal-Archives.com

"will appeal to fans of black/death metal.  Hard-hitting and brutal, Malignance is intense and that intensity does not let up until the very last song." - TheFrontRowReport.com

"Xul operate within the genre of blackened death metal, taking cues from blackened death metal giants like Behemoth, black metal legends like Immortal and Mayhem, as well as death metal demigods like Morbid Angel. They have taken all of these inspirations and combined them into their own artistically highly successful brand of blackened death metal, which features the brutality of death metal and the darkness and evil of black metal. Thus, you get and album the treats you to both the machine-gun bassdrums, guttural vocals, and technically proficient playing associated with death metal and the tense harmonies, tremolo picking, and blazing blastbeats associated with black metal.....Xul's "Malignance" is a huge artistic success and captures what I consider to be the best from both death metal and black metal." - Metal Music Archives

    "XUL’s “Malignance” is a raging, rolling machine of Black-tinged Death Metal 8/10" - Metal-Observer

"the band manages to make a sound that encompasses the Death Metal 'old school' with the current time style that combines technical, brutality and a very dark mood, as do Belphegor, Behemoth and Azarath. 8/10" - Whiplash (Brazil)

"Malignance features a stunning display of musicianship with its ultra-slick leads, hyperspeed percussion and incredible bass tone. Meyers’s fetid vocals salivating on the album’s rotting body ties the whole gruesome scene together. Xul wreak “Vengeance” on the ears of death metal fans, forcing their way in the cortex to fester and boil. This is one Malignance you’ll be dying to have." - Kingdom of Noise

"I love death metal that takes no prisoners." - Battl Helm

"This blackened death quintet from Vernon, British Columbia does not dissapoint with thier first release, Malignance. The first track sets the pace for the whole album; hard hitting, ear splitting, skull crushing brutality. Battlestorm, indeed! Strong black influences shine through, especially in tracks like Porta Nocis, and Vengeance, while the instrumental Winter's Reign leaves you spellbound. I have to admit to being really impressed with the amount of work these northern bastards have put into this, and I highly recommend it." - Canadian Black Metal

"a  very  great  sounding  heavy  and  brutal  blackened  death  metal  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  musical  genre,  you  should  check  out  this  recording.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Battlestorm"  "Winter's  Reign"  and  "Tomb  Of  The  Tyrants".  RECOMMENDED  BUY" - BringerofDeathZine

"The perfect combination of black and death metal, even with a particularly thrashy sounding guitar line in places on 'Mastication of Putrescent Empyrean Remains' really comes together on this album" - BigMetalBastard

Their heaviest and most diverse composition, this highly anticipated five track EP, the band’s 4th release will solidly place All Else Fails amongst the best in their genre as they blend intense metal with a dark beauty.

    5. A Most Unwanted Reprieve

All Else Fails is making a mark around the world for their aggressively dark brand of metal that is breaking the traditional ideals of their genre. Drawing comparisons to bands like As I Lay Dying, the band infuses their music with a variety of elements that includes experimental, Classical, synth lines, and spoken word sampling to accent a unique blend of heavy as hell screams and shiver inducing clean vocals.

A high energy live show that sets them apart from their peers has garnered them appearances on numerous high level festivals over the years, including Van’s Warped tour, Boonstock and opening spots for artists like Protest the Hero, Cancer Bats, Dayglo Abortions, 3 Inches of Blood, Fear Factory, Threat Signal, Decapitated, Suffocation, and Arise & Ruin.

The band’s last release received world wide praise from industry publications around the world. With the release of the band’s most recent music video “This Burden of Life” in the fall of 2012, and its addition to rotation on Canada’s Much Music, All Else Fails’ fan base expanded dramatically.

“What is also apparent on this third release is not only the sheer creativity of the group, but also its stone cold knack for writing songs designed to permanently embed in the gray matter…There is just something about the band’s songwriting approach; it seems so darn natural and effortless. On “The Oracle” nothing ever sounds forced, formulaic, or identifiable as anyone but ALL ELSE FAILS. Don’t let this one slip past your radar. “  – Blabbermouth.net

“It would not surprise me in the slightest if you heard this group grace the airwaves from the obscure darkly lit, pubs of Gothenburg to the soundboards of our own local modern rock stations. It seems more than fortunate that these Alberta natives named their album The Oracle because these local talents have clearly seen the future.”  – Edmonton Journal

“A Monster of a Metal Opus” – The Edmonton Journal

“All Else Fails have delivered us a brilliant new album”  – Confront Magazine

“The epic twelve track album [The Oracle] explores their most extraordinary sound to date. Ranging in themes from the apocalypse (‘This World In Flames’, ‘Rebirth’) to drug abuse (‘Fallen’), to religious persecution (‘Monster Eats The Pilot’), to being haunted by the sins of one’s past (‘The House At The End of The World’)” – PureGrainAudio.com

“Obsidian Walls” is a colossal song” – Planet Mosh

“”The Oracle” is a highly addictive journey that captures the listener from start to finish.” – SpazioRock.it (Italy)

“The Oracle is one hell of a powerful album, packed with no end of metal elements, punk edginess and even jazz flourishes . One could make the standard obligatory comparisons to other metal records, but The Oracle defies all traditional categorization. The music is at once darkly visceral and starkly beautiful. In a world of countless “core” clones in the metal scene today, this opus stands out amongst the many. All Else Fails have realized their most compelling yet pulveringing album to date.” – Metalholic Magazine

“For St Albert-based band, All Else Fails, music is not just an end in and of itself, it’s a means to an end. The trio uses its music to ask questions about some of the bigger issues facing the world, without necessarily drawing concrete conclusions. Preferring to provoke debate than provide answers…” – Vue Weekly – Edmonton

“ALL ELSE FAILS is a brand of metal that represents brutality, melody, and freshness that is well captured on The Oracle, What Was, Is And Could Have Been.” WeLoveMetal.com

“…plenty of gems amongst them, including “Twilight Of Mankind,” “Monster Eats The Pilot”, the crushing “Rebirth” and the symphonic/metallic based stand out effort “Obsidian Walls”” – Blistering.com

“All Else Fails have crafted one of the most diverse sounding albums I’ve heard in a while. The Oracle, What Was Is and Could Have Been refuses to be pigeon-holed into a genre, and that’s why it’s great. Rather than sick to a straight formula, All Else Fails branch out into several genres and bring their sound into the fold to produce some incredibly creative songs.” – The Age Of Metal

“When it came down to the track list at hand, I can point a few starlets that mesmerized me. I recommend on “This World In Flames”, both electric and acoustic, bone crushing “Rebirth” and “Obsidian Walls”, “Fallen” was a great treat even though it was lyrically heavy, and I even found the last parody “Robots!!! KOLTG” as cool. In addition to the names of the hits, I urge to take a deep listen to the rest while trying to notice the strong connection between the musical diversities and the strong lyrical sense. ALL ELSE FAILS did more than a fine job on those creations.” – Metal-Temple.com

“The band, out of St. Albert, AB. plays music which brings together classical, progressive and metal elements, to create an orchestral approach to hard driving music” – Yorkton This Week

“An uncompromising metal album the way they don’t make them anymore” – The Sound Check

“These guys are wickedly awesome. Both shows last year, the guys tore it up. The CD always finds it’s way to the car on those long trips. If you weren’t at their last few shows, make a point to come out to this one. You won’t be disappointed.” – Baycore.net post by Jolt Entertainment

  • UNTIL DAWN Announce 'The Alberta Horizon Crusade Tour'; Offer Free Download 'This Fallen Fortress' From Upcoming Album 'Horizon'

(L-R) – Steve White – Guitar, Darren Ehler – Bass, Adam Macleod – Vocals, Luke Worrell – Drums, Deke Worrell – Guitar (Photo Credit = Barrett Klesko – FadeBlack Studios United)

Until Dawn's intense energy, intoxicating guitar riffs along with their lively stage shows has shown that their location in the remote northern depths of Fort McMurray, Alberta will not slow them down as they announce they will be touring Alberta this August for 'The Alberta Horizon Crusade Tour', which will include a performance at this year's Farmageddon Festival and Loud As Hell Festival. The band's new album 'Horizon' is set for release on Tuesday, August 6th with the band offering the first single 'This Fallen Fortress' as a free download on PureGrainAudio.com here.

    Vocalist Adam Macleod comments:

"We started working on Horizon two years ago, and the concept came together fast. As a touring band, we are always staring into the horizon geared towards the next show. That’s what we are trying to convey with our next record. We spent an immense amount of time writing and doing pre-production to ensure we lived up to our own expectations and our fans. We believe this is the best representation of what Until Dawn is right now. We are extremely proud and excited to get this record to our fans, to make new ones and hit the road to play the new songs live.

Our single 'This Fallen Fortress' started as a song about being from Fort McMurray and the struggles we face as a band secluded so far north. But quickly turn into being about gaining strength through out any obstacle you are faced with. We as a band believe you can find strength and perseverance in any situation, and turn it into a positive. Let this dawn awaken."

Mixing the sound of modern metal and classic rock, brothers Luke and Deke Worrell, with Adam MacLeod and Steve White have created a thirteen track exploder that appeals to both young and old alike.
